We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mods Life Member Brent Bellon, one of a remarkable trio of Life Members who helped shape our club.
Brent’s contribution to Old Modernians Hockey Club, and to hockey more broadly in Western Australia, was significant and lasting. A proud Mods man, he represented both club and state with distinction, including selection in the 1952 WA Colts side — an exceptional team that produced five future Olympians.
Brent’s journey is a great reminder for our junior players of where hockey can take you. His progression to WA Colts level saw him play alongside some of the best young talent in the state, reflecting the opportunities the game can provide through commitment and development.
Beyond his playing days, Brent continued to give back to the game and the club. His involvement with WAHA and his lifelong connection to Mods reflected a genuine commitment to hockey and to the community around it.
Brent was also part of the wider Michael Sutherland family, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all who knew him.
His legacy at Mods lives on today in MODS OGM, built on contribution, connection and a deep love of the game.
